Girl's Trip, VBS, and the Big Celebration
I really suck at this updating business. On with the stories. After I got back from my great trip to the northern country, I was home for only 2 days. After I got off work that Friday, I drove 30 miles to pick up a friend, and we headed to Ft. Worth. Now, just let me tell you, if you have never visited the DFW metroplex in the middle of summer, don't. It's like trying to breath in a swimming pool. While you're under water. And it's boiling. From the great big huge flaming burner under it. Or something. You get the picture. Anyway, it was an all girl's weekend, and 4 of us who were friends of the host came in from all over the state. You know it's a good party when less than 4 hours after you get there, somebody's puking. I will admit, that might have had something to do with the cooler full of alcohol my friend and I brought with us. And it may have been my friend who was doing the puking. I'll never tell. I was not close to the other two girls who came, but ended up really liking them. It's kinda nice to just get together with girls, go out to eat, and be flirted with at the bar by random strangers. You should all try it sometime. I should mention that we were all married, and I was the only one without kids. So it's not like we are all firm, perky 22 year olds. Then I came home. And I did laundry for 7 years. Or maybe 77, I can never remember how that verse goes. This week was vacation bible school that one other girl and I were running. This late in the summer, the parents are all ready to get rid of their kids for a few hours. And I totally understand why. Of course, in the traditional kid way, one of them would redeem the whole group by coming up and grabbing my hand and smiling a sweet smile and saying "Can we sing the knock knock song again?" Now I must spend this weekend and next week getting ready for the big celebration of this little town. I think we're celebrating that the town made it another year, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it always entails me having a houseful of company, but I'm never sure what company until it actually happens. So my plan is to make the house presentable and the yard really nice. I hope that will encourage them to stay outside. Once again, the pretty hydrogeek picture at the end is foiled by Andrew's lack of responding to my tech support question. Let's see if he can make it a month.
