1:17 p.m. - 2005-11-28 Thanksgiving with my dad's family was all that I dreaded and more, but we got a sweet phat car out of the deal. My husband and I have been looking for an old Karmann Ghia to restore, and my aunt and uncle just happened to buy a house with one sitting in the front yard rotting. 1972 model, and was last inspected in 1999. We're pretty excited. The good news is that by going down at Thanksgiving, I will NOT feel bad when I skip out of Christmas. Happy, happy, joy, joy. The best part of the weekend was going to visit with halee and her bad ass family. The one thing I regret is that I decided to enter her family's Texas Hold'em tournament rather than watch her and my husband play ping-pong. I did this mostly to stay awake, since I'd driven from Houston that day, but figured I could play like an idiot and get knocked out rather quickly. The dumber I played, the more I won. I may have figured out my strategy for the next time I go to Vegas. In the meantime, I kinda regret not getting my requisite fulfillment of halee time. Going to the RE Wednesday, wish me luck. PS: When your sister-in-law is dating a guy who is a bartender at an upscale bar with really fancy expensive drinks, and you sit and drink for hours, but he only charges you for about half the drinks? That rocks. |
