Inaugural Trip
This past weekend was a BLAST. It was Dora's first big trip, and she couldn't have been initiated any better. We left on Saturday (we being me, my hubby, and our friend C) to head about an hour south to attand my brother's wedding. Yes, I have a brother. Yes, I really like his new wife and her two kids. From there we drove about 6 hours southeast to surprise halee at her big 30th birthday bash. Awesomely, she was actually surprised. No one spilled the beans!

This bash was held at a very swanky hotel (at least by this country girl's standards) and had this HUGE revolving door that had flowers and crap separating out the different sections of the door, revolving with the door. As we were entering, I remarked about how nice a place it was, and how neat the door was, and my husband agreed, then our friend C said "I'll go ahead and say it. We don't belong here." He was right, and I'm pretty sure the hotel management figured that out by the middle of the night. We arrived late, and Halee had already imbibed enough that she kept telling Dora "I'm sorry, I can't hold you. I'm too drunk." She was right.

Dora and I went to bed fairly early, but my husband and C spent quite some time with the rest of the birthday party people drunkenly running all over the hotel checking out all the richy rich amenities. Apparently someone called security on them, but the security people went to the wrong room, so nobody got caught or thrown out. Success!

The next morning we took Dora swimming (after a nice huge breakfast at IHOP, because sorry, I am not paying $10.95 for a continental breakfast) and she LOVED it. Like a good little hydrobaby, she took right to the pool, and didn't want to get out. I think she spent over 2 hours in the water, and then slept most of the way home. It was great. Turns out, she travels pretty darn well, with one meltdown each direction when we were about an hour from our destination. That entailed about 5 minutes of screaming before she went to sleep. Longest 5 minutes of my life, especially considering she NEVER cries like that, but all told, it was not nearly the ordeal that I've heard it to be. Maybe this means I can pick back up on some traveling soon!
